Wake: Last review

Well the book is about a girl named Janie, a guy named Cabel, who is absolutely in love with her, and she feels the same for him. But there's a catch she can go into people's dreams against their or her will. Which isn't all that great, but in the book she's trying to control how she enters their dreams, and that she can only save the people only if they ask her to. It's very complex. Ummm and that Cabel is an undercover agent working for the police, and Janie helps out with a major bust, just by having a dream about the drug dealer. Basically by the end of the book, it's all a happy ending, Janie was trying to get a freeride into college, but the Captain had gave her an envelope with a contract, a scholarship, and a pay-check, say to her good job Janie. So yah all in all, A really, really good book. I recomend!

My opinion about the book, is that it's thrilling, a little confusing, and kind of romantic. There's a lot of things to look our for, becuase obviously, your dreams are certainly not your own! But there's sort of a sad part to it, that her mom really doesn't even care about her. :( but in a way she does, just not in the way that Janie wishes she would care. Carrie of course freaks out at everything. And her boyfriend Stu, well Carrie let's just say, can get herself into a little trouble. But I really enjoyed the book. It had ZING! And the plot, at times was hard to understand, but eventually it gets to where, things don't surprise you as much becuase you feel like you understand the character so well. I recomend this book to young readers, just becuase there's all sorts of ideas about this book that will make you want more!

Last Reading of "The Hobbitt"

The plot of this book had jumped around a lot, but basically it was about a man, named Bilbo...who was a hobbitt, and he and his freinds, I can't remember their names but there was at least i think seven or eight of them that had joined him on this journey. Bilbo had found a ring, and it belonged to the dark lord, as they called him. He was of course the bad guy, who got his hand chopped off by this one dude that had also helped Bilbo, Bilbo was the m,ain character. The way that they had explained the story in detail about where they were at times and how they had fought the goblins, really was magical. It made me visualize the story in my head. Really amazing.

My response was awesome book! I thought that I would never ever understand the book at all, but now that I do, it really opens my mind to newer horizons, I really enjoyed this book. I hope that I can read something like this again. :)

Wake: Review Two

I really like this book, for it's creativity. I think that it really relates to what kids dream about, and how they might feel about certain memories of their life. The way Lisa Mcmann explains the detail of Janie entering peoples' dreams really gives you a full look at what that person is feeling at that moment. The plot is that Janie in trying to discover what she can do to avoid entering peoples' dreams, she doesn't want the gift, frankly it annoys her. Seh is slowly progressing to find out how she can avoid every dream, she's even dreaming her own dreams, discovering how she can control herself in other dreams. She knows it's hard. She has her best friend Carrie, and a new addition to her group...Cabel, he's cute to her, and the way that she explained everything about how she can enter dreams to him and not Carrie makes it seem like they're really the ones who should be best friends, but she keeps entering his dreams about how he turns into a monster with razor sharp hands, that chop an old man, and kill him, after he's screaming in pain and agony. Another dream has to do with Carrie, and her boyfriend. Janie enters Carrie's dream where her boyfriend Stu is making love to her while she yells out for her brother, saying help him....yah kind of an awkward dream. Janie tries to help the boy, but every time, she can't, she's stuck between two worlds, the real one, and the dream world...and neither one are playing in her favor.

The Hobbit: Second Review

I enjoy the way that Bilbo and his buddies have joined as a team and are looking out for each other. But I really think that Bilbo isn't going to give the ring up anytime soon. The book is saying that Bilbo hides in dark corners, and anytime that he can he'll slip on the ring and turn invisible. But that's becuase the ring is taking a hold on him, and is turning him evil. T he goblins are helping them, not trying to eat them anymore, which is good, but now they're at a place and the head leader says that they cannot leave becuase he says that Bilbo and his friends have put him and his people through a lot of trouble, and he's rambling on about how they paved that road that Bilbo walked on, and that it's disrepectful to just leave. Smeagle, the little goblin dude is creepy and is following the hobbits and the dwarves, and is trying to get Bilbo to give up the ring to him.

Mushrooms, and

Mushrooms poem

The way she explains the cold lips of the wind, that's so pretty exceot it makes me think that the wind has lips haha! How she calls the little mushrooms skulls, is true becuase they look like they're little skulls coming out of the ground. How they grow out of the ground, growing past the leaves on the ground, "Through the leaves, the grasses, through sand, astonishing." It sounds so pretty how they just grow like that, like at their own pace. it's so sad that when it hits to dark, they dissappear back under the ground.

Wild Geese poem
she explains that you don't have to be good at something, just yourself take over. If you tell her about your depsairs, she'll tell you hers, and that life just goes on, and that's the way it has to go. She says, "Meanwhile the sun and clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the lanscapes--" that to her may not have ,eant somethingm but to me it meant that even though the world around you is changing, you still have to move on somehow, and just keep moving forward. it made me really think about my furture, and how I will have issues but somehow I'll have to move on. but meanwhile, she says, the wild geese are flying in the blue sky. That's something beautiful to think about.

Wake: First Immpresions

Well. Janie is a 16 yr. old girl who has special abbilities to enter people's nightmares, and dreams. and has been able to go into her best freind Cassie's dreams and she goes into Cassie's friend, Melinnda's dreams also and finds out some very interesting things so far that I have read. She finds out that Melinnda pictures Cassie naked and Janie is forced to watch and she cannot leave, and Cassie and Melinnda kiss in a closet, so she figures out that Melinnda likes Cassie deeply. She has a dream with Cassie, that there's a little boy and he is drowning and smiling saying "Help me Cassie!" but is smiling while he's saying it, so now Janie is suspicious about Cassie, and wonders is she's really an only child or not, like Cassie says she is.

I can't really say that I have the same experiences as Janie, entering peoples dreams, but I can say that once I have actually had the same dream as a friend of mine. and we both said what ever the other person dreamed. It was hilarious. We had the same class one day, and when we got home for the weekend, we both fell asleep in front of my television and dreamed about why the teacher was being so mean, and gave us all that homework, and I stood up and said "Maybe I should just get you fired for being a rude teacher!" mind you I was only eight yrs. old. And my friend said, "I second the motion!" really awkward, but still very funny. I think that the author has a unique point in this story, but from what I have managed to get out of it, is that you may think you know a person on the outside from what they tell you, but in Janie's case, she gets to know them on a deeper level, and finds out whatever they are hiding, that they don't want to reach the surface. The author's style really gets you into the book, to where you want to know more, and gives so much detail that you can't put the book down, and that's why you always want to know what's happening next! Her usage in writing really means that she has a big imagination for everything that's going in every direction you could think of. I think that Janie is going to enter Cassie's dream one more time, and Cassie will wake up and Janie will too, and they will both confess to each other about themselves, and Janie will finally know about Cassie's secret. How I think I know this, is becuase it's giving enough of a hint, that you will out why there's always a little boy drowning and smiling screaming Cassie's name.

The Hobbit Review

I like the way that it sort of follows the movies, I haven't read any of the books, but I do like the way that so far they are putting exactly like the movie. I'm enjoying it for the littlw details that the author puts in the book, about the house, and how tiny it is. It's located under a hill which is pretty funny. Becuase they're so small. I'm ammused becuase the little hobbit's compared to a human, they say are like an ant, and they don't wear shoes! The author's style in writing is amazing, it gives so much detail in the houses, and how they don't eat that much, just in general it gives the perfect picture in your mind. The connection between us both, is that we're both small, and I as the hobbit's do, kind of fend for myself, and sometimes, I seek adventure in life, and it just drops on my doorstep.

My Vacation!

This last Friday, I missed school, to go on a vacation, mind you, I shouldn't have done it. But I did anyways! I'm very glad I did! I went to Seaside, Oregon. The beach was amazing to just have the privaledge to walk on it, let alone swim in its beautiful waters. I got to do both, and I found a whole SAND DOLLAR! My family and I went for a walk on the beach one day, (Saturday) and the tide was coming in tremendously high. Of course I was careful in walking on the beach, I was on the egde of the bank, and dove off the end. I scarped my knee, YE-OUCH! But I was fine. A tide actually went over me a few times, and nearly drowned me! It was awesome! I tasted a lot of salt on my lips, it was discusting. I had to take a shower, after that, and I took multiple pictures of my self, and family, even though, they didn't want to. The next few hours were fun. We went to the arcade just two blocks down, and instead of tokens, we got cards to swipe, where it says to swipe, and it checks your card number, and lets you play, I got plenty of time to play, P.S. you have to put money on it before you play! But other than that, it was fantastic! We stayed at the Seaside Resort! the best place I have ever been to! It definetely gets five stars WAY OUT! Other than that, that's all that happened. Hope you enjoyed reading this.

Student-Led Conferences

1.What did I do well on?
I think that I did really well, on showing what I had accomplished this year. I showed at least eight things to my advisor, and my guest. They appreciated the fact that I spoke clearly. I showed them my PSAT scores, and WASL from last year. I showed them what I had liked to do in my spare time, and what I do for my community. I talked to them about what I wanted to do in the future.

2. What do I need to improve?
I need to have more community hours, becuase I don't have very many...dressing appropriately for the occasion. Most of all, explain more about one subject at a time...don't just jump around!

3.Questions that I have about student-led conferences?
Nothing really....I would actualluy like to know more about how this will effect me in the furture...?

What is poetry to you?

to me poetry is important becuase you can express so many things in poetry. like when you're sad, angry, happy, excited. you can express everthing about you, and no one can judge. becuase they know what to feel at that time. it makes them think about what your poem does to them. that's why poetry is very important to people, they know how they can express their true inner self. that's what's important in the world that we live in, we need expression of a real person.
